A HUGE THANKS TO THE MINNETONKA CENTER FOR THE ARTS!!!

On March 4th and 4th, LGA students were be able to experience clay, courtesy of MCFTA! They made "Talking Rocks" (clay rattles) and explored the importance of symbolism in art as they learned about our local Native American culture.

Go and visit MCFTA's new classroom at the Ridgedale Mall in Minnetonka!

Right now we're learning about Op Art as we explore "Rhythm" and its' connection to "Movement", both Principles of Design. Check back soon to see our artwork!

We just finished our "Color" unit which gave students the opportunity to paint color scheme paintings. The objective was to have students use a consistent color scheme as they painted a small painting of a subject matter of choice.

Learn more about the ART ROOM STAFF!

I’m Ms. Pautsch, Lionsgate Academy’s new art teacher! I cannot describe how excited I am to be teaching at Lionsgate! This is my first year at Lionsgate and on top of that I am a first year teacher. I graduated from St. Cloud State University in May of 2009 with a B.S. in Art Education and minors in Graphic Design and Creative Writing. I grew up on a farm just south of Gaylord, Minnesota, a small farming community south west of the Twin Cities. I currently call St. Louis Park my home. In my time away from teaching, I enjoy biking, traveling, concert going, and of-course making art!

I am so thankful to work in such a great school where the staff are a community of people who are whole-heartedly dedicated to their students. I also couldn’t ask for a better crew of aspiring artists to teach! Many family members and friends have heard me say, “This is my dream job.” It truly is!

There are 3 AWESOME Educational Assistants that work in the Art Room and I couldn’t do it with out them!

Mr. Harms is a returning E.A. from the previous year and he has developed an outstanding rapport with the students that is unmatched with any colleague I have worked with in the past! He graduated from the U of M with a degree in English and is currently studying at Augsburg University to obtain his Masters in Education. He enjoys spending time with his fiancé and two dogs, sports, and collecting howling wolf t-shirts.

Ms. Stewart is new to Lionsgate Academy and brings with her valuable knowledge gained from working with adults on the Autism spectrum. She serves the students in multiple ways and one of her strengths is the positive one-on-one support and attention she gives to students who need it. She enjoys spending time with her daughter, music, and hanging out at the gym.

Ms. Kitzman is recently new to Lionsgate Academy and we’re so lucky to have her share her artistic talents with us! Her patience is exceptional and her calm disposition serves as a positive influence for the students. Originally from Iowa, she recently moved back to Minnesota from New York where she attended the School of Visual Arts and obtained her Masters of Arts in Teaching. She enjoys painting, crafting, and playing with her dog, Tucker.
