Lionsgate Academy’s Language Arts Department focuses on the MN State Standards for developing literacy and critical thinking skills. All classes are designed to work on increasing student skills in areas that include reading, writing, public speaking, active listening, and language usage. Teachers and LGA support staff follow the best practices in differentiating curriculum to meet the needs of the student in order to maximize learning and comprehension. When appropriate or guided by IEP, staff will accommodate and/or modify assignments and assessments to help students achieve their educational goals. Achievement is based upon student’s progress on differentiated formative and summative assessments meant to build upon multiple skills in the core area of Language Arts. Our classes incorporate school wide Positive Behavioral Supports program and the use of “visuals” that further encourage student creativity, flexibility, participation, and joy of learning.
